Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 24101 – 1333
Greetings Fans, Friends, Fiends, Foes, Foundlings, Fruitcakes, and Other Multitudinous and Diverse Wonders who visit here,
Here’s the haps:
I was visiting the blog of the ineffable Geoff Stamper, called Suicide Squeeze (A term for a type of play in American Baseball), and the first sentence of his most recent post, Unauthorized Marital Advice, was, “I have not posted for over seven weeks, mainly because nothing bad happens if I do not Blog.” I thought, “That’s a great opening line. I think I’ll steal it.” I stole a Killer Title from him one time, so why not?
Well, the why not is that it hasn’t been quite that long since my last post on Christmas day, but it has been 37 days. I was going to say I was trying to keep up with the Joneses but according to a well-researched post I read on J.P. Cavanaugh’s blog, Boomer No More (Or, Keeping Up With The Joneses), I am a part of Generation Jones and not a Baby Boomer as I once was. I couldn’t find a reason for the name Generation Jones other than we are, supposedly, Jonesing to be called Baby Boomers. It was an interesting post as most of his are.
Life is happening at a high rate of speed and I have just got too much going on to commit to anything other than being more professional in my crastination this year. Keeping up with four-year-olds and a one-year-old and sundry other assorted grandchildren. Learning more about the brain and nervous system than I ever thought existed, and trying to get diagnoses for Mrs. Herb, all add up, time-wise.
All this and much more brings me to the title I chose for this first post of the new year. You probably will see more meme and cartoon posts and not as many “serious” posts as I used to do, but I’m not quitting, just changing. I follow a lot of blogs, over fifty at the moment, but they don’t all update every day consistently, and a few are like Mr. Stamper, so it’s manageable for now. I just thought I’d better touch base with you all now rather than try a suicide squeeze.

Just follow your heart, Herb…Do your honest best and God,with love, will do the rest.
Thank you, John, for your kind words.
Do offer the occasional well-grounded wisdom. I enjoy that.
Thanks so much. I plan to stick around.
I can definitely relate, Herb! Thanks for the shout out. You have a good memory. I do remember being thrilled when you were tickled with Killer Title. I get a good feeling every time I see a post from you pop up.
Thanks so much. We have a couple of situations that are similar as far as grandchildren go. I just can’t tell anybody else’s story.
Well, I missed you. I don’t understand why you have something bad to happen to blog. Get out there and make it happen. Looking forward to the memes and cartoons. 🤣😎🙃
Thank you so much. I appreciate the encouragement.
That part about Mrs. Herb is concerning. Maybe I missed a post somewhere. God bless you guys, and your doctors! I hope you have answers and solutions to whatever you’re facing soon. Perfectly fine to take time away. I hope the grandkids are keeping you young. 🙂
The grandkids do keep us young. Mrs. Herb has been facing several different health issues but I seldom post about them because she doesn’t like it. Back in August of 2020 we were driving a PT Cruiser and a semi truck changed lanes into us. We both hit our heads but were never treated for concussion but the accident set up a series of events. Getting someone to make a diagnosis is like pulling teeth. I’ve left out a lot of details, but she has had some serious challenges. I don’t think I’ve ever posted directly about her issues the way I did for daughter TNT.
The Sundry grandchildren sound great, but don’t you have any for the rest of the week?
You have to pick a schedule that works for you instead of for those of us who eagerly await your next post. We’ll survive, even if barely.
And prayers for Mrs Herb!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for the encouragement, I appreciate it.
Wow, a lot on your platter! Like you, I did a lot of research on the brain when my husband had his motorcycle accident so I could help him recover from a TBI. The medical community pretty much just sent him home and told him to rest. Frustrating, but barring other injuries, the brain does eventually sort things out, but it can take a while!
Thanks. It’s been quite a row to hoe for all of us.
Thanks for the update Herb. I do notice when my regular bloggers that I follow haven’t posted in a while so I appreciate the update 😊
Yes ma’am, you’re welcome. Thank you for keeping up, lol.
Quality over quantity!
We remain hopefully optimistic.
