As busy and hectic and crazy as life is, this three-day weekend, amidst all of the picnics and fun, we should remember how we have not only kept ourselves free, but have been (and still are) instrumental in the freedom of many other people. The final image is of my uncle, Herbert E. Thiel, with my grandparents. He was not only a casualty of WWII, but my grandparents were victims of a government cover-up of the greatest maritime disaster of the war, with a loss of life of 1,157 soldiers and crew. My grandfather died, never knowing what happened to his son. The picture is/has a link to one of my posts about my uncle from a few years back. Rohna Classified is a documentary about it and my plugging it is one of my ways of remembering…
