Most Esteemed Colleagues of the Blogging World,

Here’s the Haps:

I have always had this image of the British as being very proper people with impeccable manners. I know this isn’t true. I have known, emailed with, and read the blogs of many people from the U.K. and know that they aren’t any more perfect or imperfect than I am on any front. Of course, when I see things like this I just can’t help but wonder about people sometimes. A gentleman named William Hanson, who is one of England’s top etiquette masters and teaches manners all over the world, including to large corporations and movie companies has something to say about the proper way to eat a banana. This man has been called “The Emily Post of the Tik-Tok generation.” As a public service, may I present to you the proper method of eating a banana with a knife and fork:

I always loved the British method of the left-handed fork

I’ve never given any thought to it, really. I just eat. But, yes, when I eat a banana, I eat it like a primate.

I will have to pay more attention to when I use the fork in the left hand and when it is in the right. I think I use a hybrid style, possibly because I have lived in Canada, the UK and the USA.

I’ve never given it any thought at all. Since I’m left-handed I’m sure the rules would be annoying, at best.

I remember my high school home ec teacher showing us how to do that. We all just rolled our eyes…

That’s really funny. Yes, eye rolls sound pretty appropriate.
