The A – Z Challenge; J: AI Tells A Joke

or, They’re Not Ready To Take Over Yet

(Instead of doing a differently named subject based on the letter for the day, I’m using the letters of the alphabet as hierarchical headings only.)

My Dear Readers,

Here’s the haps:

I get this newsletter every day of the week called the Good Clean Funnies List which is a joke-a-day (clean, hence the name). Most of the time I just archive them until I’m looking for material and normally by the time I use one of them they are several years old and I rewrite them to add my own touches to them. But sometimes they post one that just makes me laugh out loud and I feel like sharing it right away. The following joke, Death by Mule, from Tuesday, April 8 is an example of one of those.

Death by Mule

Once upon a time there was a woman married to an annoying man named Steve. He would complain about everything. One day he went to plow the field with his mule. He complained so much that the mule got annoyed and kicked him to death.

At the funeral, when the men walked by the wife, she nodded her head up and down in a “Yes” motion. Every time the women walked by, she shook her head side to side to indicate “No.”

The minister asked, “Why are you shaking your head yes for men and no for women?”

Her response was, “The men would say how sorry they felt for me and I was saying, ‘Yes, I’ll be all right.’ When the women walked by, they were asking, ‘Is the mule for sale?’”

Received from Big Mac Clean Joke Attack.

So, since it was so fresh to me, I wanted to give attribution to who or whatever Big Mac Clean Joke Attack is. I typed into The Google, “Big Mac Clean Joke Attack.” All of the search engines have this thing now, where, before they show you the results, they give you an “AI Overview.” I generally ignore these but since the results didn’t come back with what I was looking for, I read this,

Here’s a clean joke about a “Big Mac Attack,” keeping it light and avoiding any offensive or inappropriate content:
What do you call a Big Mac that’s been through a lot? A Big Mac Attack!
Explanation:
The joke plays on the words “Big Mac” and “Attack” to create a humorous, albeit silly, scenario.
It’s a simple, clean joke that doesn’t rely on any potentially controversial or offensive elements.
It’s suitable for a wide audience and can be used in a variety of settings.

Generative AI is experimental.

This was pretty lame and in my estimation, the robots aren’t ready to take over…yet.

    I like the mule story!
Apparently AI can’t do those ‘are you a robot’ picture things – so mankind is safe from internet extinction for a while, I guess.
