So, my son has had an opportunity to restart blogging but when some of his commenters on his newest post leave an emoji (He has several that use them a lot) they show up as question marks. I am working on figuring it out. It just happened on my latest post, too. This post is a test post and will likely update as the day goes on. ????️♂️???????????? I’ll try to log what I do…
????????????
14:17 I was locked out of the site completely again and had to drive someone to an appointment. I apparently can get in using the Jetpack app on the phone, however. Hmm…
It appears to have taken that update. I’ll try emojis from Google keyboard on the phone:????????????????????????????
Nope. At least I can get into the admin area ????????
21:56 Tried changing to utf8mb4_unicode_ci Emojis you can type, e.g. “:)” convert in the comments but emojis from other sources don’t.
The whole aggravating thing about this hoo-haw is that it had been working just fine and then just started doing this with no major changes to anything. 🙂 🙂

This was an adventure in backend development. 🕵️♂️🤠 wound up learning, after many searches, hours on the tech chat, and experimenting I learned that in php 8.1 you have to enable nd_mysqli and disable mysqli ⁉👀
Anyway, I don’t mind working on stuff that’s messed up and investigating it when it’s mine but I was upset because many of the fans of my son’s site, Brother’s Campfire, use emojis quite a bit. I’m hoping it works now. 🤞

I like comments and try to respond to them all if I can:
