Here’s the haps:
This post is going to be kind of short but it is something nice and encouraging that I found on the Internet this week and would like to share with you.
An interesting and enthusiastic and inspiring person who has a few years on me is 109-year-old Vincent Dransfield of Little Falls, New Jersey. He lives by himself in his own house, drives around town on his own, makes his own meals, and does his own laundry. The laundry is in his basement and his bedroom is upstairs.
He said he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up and he was one for 80 years. He said when he was 15, during the Depression, he got a job on a dairy farm and could drink all the milk he wanted and they fed him well. He thinks that contributed to why he’s so healthy now. He drinks a cup of coffee a day, likes Italian food, has a beer once in a while but doesn’t really like alcohol and he still drinks Ovaltine.
In this brief news clip, you can see he’s got a sense of humor and enjoys life.
Here’s the original article: Man, 109, still drives his car every day, lives on his own: ‘I feel perfect’

Herb and a couple of his buddies were talking about what they hoped their grandchildren would be saying about them fifty years from now.
“I would like my grandchildren to say, ‘He was successful in business,’” declared the first man.
“Fifty years from now,” said the second, “I want them to say, ‘He was a loyal family man.’”
Turning to Herb, they asked, “So, Herb, what do you want them to say about you in fifty years?”
“Me?” Said Herb, “I want them to say, ‘Boy, he sure looks good for his age, doesn’t he?’”

That is one impressive elderly gentleman .. of course we all know that the human being is fully capable of living a fruitful, active and healthy life for at least 120 years these days, right? And there are many out there proving me right. I hope to be one of them. Thank for sharing this story. It is encouraging.
Well, 120 is certainly more reachable nowadays than ever before, that’s for sure.
I loved this post! That man looks WONDERFUL. It’s hard to believe he’s the age he is. He could easily pass for late 70s. This really was an uplifting piece – thank you, Herb!
I was blown away when I heard him talk. He has a very strong voice and doesn’t sound like his age, either.
Maybe Ovaltine is the secret.
You never know…
Herb, you look good for your age but everyone who turns 109 is guaranteed to look good for their age. A terrific post today!
Thank you, sir!
Old age and healthy old age – can be two different things! Apparently about 40% of human life expectancy is inherited, so it can be your genes that give you the kick start to good health.
That and Grace from on high.
That is the kind of guy who makes the rest of us want to live a long time. He’s like a lottery winner, only the prize involves avoiding memory loss, mobility loss and an address that includes a room number.
Yeah, he’s doing all right.
