Here’s the haps:

Hi Everyone. Sorry, no post tonight. I’m taking tonight off and will pick back up on Monday with the ever-ubiquitous, U. But well, it being (as is commonly reported) Shakespeare’s birthday/deathday and it also being Talk Like Shakespeare Day, well, okay, here goes a little something. I am curious, though, about how do people in Great Britain celebrate it? Do they walk around with an affected American accent quoting the bard? Perhaps they have Talk Like Edgar Allan Poe Day, instead?

    Hi Herb 🙂

    Intriguing… Shortly before visiting here today I’d scheduled a post for Tuesday that makes reference to Chat Qu’éspire. The Universe is definitely trying to tell me something (I just wish it would use plain English instead of these veiled hints).

    I am curious, though, about how do people in Great Britain celebrate it? Do they walk around with an affected American accent quoting the bard? Perhaps they have Talk Like Edgar Allan Poe Day, instead?

    This Brit cannot recall having ever met anyone anywhere who celebrates the birth/death of that ancient ba’rd. I myself, on the other hand, am looking forward to celebrate the life of another great ba’rd shortly, to wit: Douglas Adams (on May 25th, Towel Day). And of course there’s this coming Wednesday to look forward to, although far fewer ba’rds, living and/or dead, are/were responsible for that particular franchise. (May the fourth be with you!)

    I guess Taking Tonight off counts for T too. But this was more fun. Now I am wondering if the British ever have any occasion at all to talk like an American?

      I wrote something a year or two ago and one of my commenters said they could “hear” it in an American accent. And they have a wide variety of accents over there like we do, too.
