Hijacked Herb‽ Well, -ish

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22463 – 853:

Here’s the haps:

Hi everyone: Fans, Friends, Fiends, Foes, Foundlings, Froot Loops, and Filial Frogs,

I apologize that I have not been making the rounds of your blogs and have not been responding to comments in a timely manner. I will try to play catch-up (but not ketchup. Playing with ketchup can be very wasteful and messy.) as soon as possible.

Some of you may remember that my daughter is a public school teacher. (I posted about it here.) Last year she taught Fourth Grade via the Internet. This year she has a job in a “real” classroom teaching the Third Grade. Preparations for this adventure are somewhat different than the previous one. She needed decorations made and bulletin boards done and other things. Now, my wife loves crafts and crafting and creating a veritable plethora of things in many different styles. Daughter’s husband and I did the things we were good at and her sister did what she could do but the person with all the knowledge and resources is my wife. Whether it is a craft for Sunday School, creating a beautiful journal out of junk at hand, or, as in this case, decorating a whole classroom, everyone goes to my wife. My daughter knew what she wanted to accomplish in her room decorations but she came to my wife for some nuts and bolts advice and help to make it happen.

My wife has a Cricut Explore Air® 2 which, among other things makes intricate cuts that you could never make with scissors. Well, maybe you could, but not most people. And certainly not as quickly. “So, um, Herb,” I think I hear someone saying (although sometimes I just hear things, but that’s a different post), “How did all this prevent you from keeping in touch with all of your beloved fans, friends, fiends, foes, foundlings, froot loops, filial frogs and everybody else?” You know, I’m glad you asked me that question. I can actually answer it for you. My wife computer is a hunk of junk that isn’t worth the plastic it’s printed on and her machine requires a proprietary software. This software can actually run on pretty much any computer but not hers. It runs beautifully on mine and has two screens, one of which is a touch screen. So, my machine was taken over for the greater good and I was relegated to other missions.

But I’m back.

I can speak for the Filial Frogs (more toad than frog). Wonderful to have hopped aside for a great cause.

Cricut Explore Air® 2 machine – watched videos. Think I’ll stick to cutting by hand with Xacto knife.

Well, she loves it and puts it to good use. I don’t do anything crafty enough to warrant it, myself.

Love the header photo! Kinda makes me long for those old “get the kiddos ready and out the door to school” days!!

lol. Yes, until I remember some of those days, then I am happy that the grandkids have their own parents.

I know what it is like to have the only computer that can do everything. When it gets hijacked, blogging takes a back seat, but we gotta do what we gotta do. Stay well Herb. Allan

      lol. Thanks Allan.

I speak only for myself (my wife insists). Good to have you back 🙂

lol. Well, perhaps I’ll write something good sometime and she will change her mind.😉

Ketchup and computers do not mix well, in my experience.

      Very true indeed.

Those Cricuts are all the rage! One of the moms from my classroom has designed a few onesies with hers, and did some incredible woodworking gifts for us teachers earlier this year. I have little doubt that if my mom were alive and crafting she would’ve gotten one and made good use of it.

      They really are incredible tools.

Sounds fun! It will be exciting for her to be teaching hands on.

    Welcome back

I’m glad you’re back and I hope your daughter has a wonderful year in the classroom. I think the battle with Covid might make that a challenge, especially because of the Delta variant.

So far it hasn’t affected her school but yeah, it’s the bogeyman these days.

Wish your daughter a wonderful productive year in her beautifully decorated classroom with all the adorable kids of the neighborhoods. What is a filial frog by the way? It sounds very interesting. Are you keeping a pet frog?

    1. Herb Avatar

It means I love to use alliteration when I can get away with it and some of my family are sort of froggy. I used the term filial loosely. I don’t have a pet frog.

So, it seems that, indirectly, we also helped your daughter by not bugging you too much.

lol. Yes, I hadn’t thought that way, but I guess you’re right.
