Blogging A – Z Challenge 2021: D Is For Death, Burial, and Resurrection

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22340 – 806:

Here’s the haps:

(Sundays are a day off from the Challenge)

Yesterday was celebrated as Easter Sunday. The circles I run in call it Resurrection Sunday but the term Easter is in the Bible. The almighty, invisible, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent God created everything in a perfect condition by the power of his Word. Man ruined it and separated himself from the Creator.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

(Rom 5:12 KJV)

His highest creation failed Him. The sacrifice of animals, no matter how pure they were, was not able to wash away sin. A second Adam needed to come to have a chance to redeem mankind from his sin. The Almighty God overshadowed the Virgin, Mary, by His Spirit and created in her this second Adam. Human by being born of the seed of a woman but perfect by not carrying the sin of Adam, Jesus Christ was 100% God and 100% Man at any given moment. As a man he was tempted, he hungered and was tired. As God He raised the dead and cast out devils, Fed four thousand people one time and five thousand another, woke from sleep and calmed a deadly storm. He was the Lamb of God and the only one with the possibility of saving Humanity from sin and turning them to everlasting life instead of eternal punishment.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

(Php 2:5-11 KJV) Compare with (Isaiah 45:23 KJV)

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

(Col 2:13-14 KJV)

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

(1Co 15:1-8 KJV)

The tomb, closed with a giant stone and sealed, was guarded by Roman soldiers. An angel with a face like lightning rolled the stone out of the way, caused an earthquake and the power and appearance of it caused the soldiers to shake with fear and fall down like dead men. When they reported this to the high priests they were bribed with great amounts of money by the chief priests and promises to secure them to Pilate.

We fulfill the gospel of Jesus Christ by crucifying our old man, that is to say, repenting and turning away from sin and desiring to leave our sinful nature nailed to his cross. When we are baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of those sins, washing them away in the blood of Jesus we are buried with Him. When we receive the baptism of the Holy ghost it is the resurrection of our spirit and power to maintain an overcoming lifestyle.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

(Rom 6:4 KJV)

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

(Col 2:12 KJV)

You need the Holy Ghost in you to be saved as well.

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

(Joh 7:37-39 KJV)

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

(Joh 14:16-18 KJV)

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

(Rom 8:9-11 KJV)

After he rose from the dead he spent 40 days with his followers and went up to glory. He came as the Lamb of God and is now the Lion of the Tribe Of Judah.

If you want to read more about how to enter into the Kingdom of God and be born again of the Water and the Spirit I have a page on my other, woefully neglected, site called obey thebible.com. Water & Spirit is a five-minute Bible study showing how Jesus’ commandment to be born again of the Water and Spirit can be accomplished.

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

(Luk 24:45-52 KJV)

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

(Act 1:8 KJV)

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

(Act 2:1-4 KJV)

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

(Act 2:36-41 KJV)
