Throw It Back Thursday – The Monkey’s Disgrace

Throw It Back Thursday – The Monkey’s Disgrace

This was not original with me so I don’t know if it really counts as a true throw-it-back-Thursday entry. Well, since it’s my blog and I make the rules here, it must count because I said so, hahaha. We have been sorting and condensing some boxes and I found this in the back of my Christian Living Series books from a very long time ago. Christian Living Series was a class for people new to the church who needed to either learn or strengthen their knowledge. They still teach it at the church but now it’s done in two parts. I don’t know if this was something that was handed out or if I got it from somewhere else and just stuck it in there or what. Anyway, there is no attribution for it, it’s just floated around for a bunch of years. On the sheet I have, it’s called, “Darwin’s Myth Exposed.”

Hey, hey, we’re the…Never mind, no we’re not.

The Monkey’s Disgrace

Three monkeys sat in a coconut tree,
Discussing things as they are said to be
Said one to the others, “Now listen, you two,
There’s a certain rumor that can’t be true,
That man descended from our noble race,
The very idea is a great disgrace!

“No monkey has ever deserted his wife,
Starved her babies, and ruined her life.
And you’ve never known a mother monk,
To leave her babies with others to bunk,
Or pass them on from one to the other,
Till they scarcely know who is their mother.

“And another thing you’ll never see,
A monk build a fence ’round a coconut tree,
And let the coconuts go to waste,
Forbidding all other monks to taste.
Why, if I put a fence around this tree,
Starvation would force you to steal from me.

“Here’s another thing a monkey won’t do –
Go out at night and get in a stew,
Or use a gun or club or knife
To take some other monkey’s life.
Yes, man descended, the ornery cuss,
But brother, he didn’t descend from us!”

If only Darwin had had better interviewing skills he would have talked to these monkeys and really cleared some things.
