A Trap

There is a man I have known all my life, that I thought I knew well. He is 55 years old and still holds a grudge for something minor that happened 40 years ago. He’s still bitter over it. He thinks this third party made it so he couldn’t get his driver’s license when he was 16 and he had to wait until he was 18. Bitterness is really the enemy of only your own soul. I doubt the person who supposedly did this even remembers his name, let alone the incident.

Bitterness, hanging on to the infractions of others from the past, only hurts you. Forgiving a person and carrying on with your life is the best way. You can learn from the past, but not if you cling to it in bitterness. That’s when it becomes a trap and eats away at your soul like a festering wound until it consumes your mind.

Probably why the Good Book says,

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
(Eph 4:31-32)

KJV

And the book of Herb, chapter one, verse forty-two, says, “Forgive your enemies. It messes with their head.”

That’s funny you say that because my youngest said I should make a book of “Thielisms.” Family sayings we have that not everybody says.

You deserve a free one. But it’s got to be written, first.
