An incident happened with my dad that I thought was somewhat strange. I do not know if you will recall my talking about my dad’s brother, Herbert, http://herbthiel.blogdrive.com/archive/19.html for whom I was named. Well, while he was here I printed of the web page that I think one of my cousins put together (the contact link didn’t work) and had a picture of my dad’s brother with his mom and dad standing proudly in his uniform. My dad became choked up and talked about how nice his brother was. I thought that he might think it was nice to have a picture of his brother so I offered to blow up the picture and print it for him. He couldn’t speak for several moments and when he did he surprised me by saying, in his choked-up tearful way, that, no, he didn’t want a copy of that picture. It would bring back too many memories and he would feel bad every time he looked at it. I had originally thought to blow it up and frame it and send it to him. Anyway, just thought I would share that strange little story with you.
