We Don’t Know Them All But We Owe Them All

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 23851 – 1290

Dear Readers,

Here’s the Haps:

Today is Memorial Day. It is a time to remember those who paid the ultimate price. People have picnics and outings and things you do on a three-day weekend, and that’s fine, just so we don’t lose track of the real purpose of the day.

A bit of U.S. flag etiquette if you’re interested. If you have a flagpole where you raise and lower the flag:

Just before sunrise, raise the flag briskly, all the way up.
At sunrise, slowly lower the flag to half-staff until noon.
At noon, briskly raise it again.

If you have a stationary flag, you may attach a black “mourning ribbon” to the staff.

I invite you to read about my uncle, Herbert, in this post I did as part of the 2022 A – Z challenge and look into the Rohna disaster yourself.
