Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 23478 – 1209
Still working on this site but I think I’m getting somewhere. WordPress is committed to using blocks so I figure I might as well jump into it.
Here’s the haps:
Today is the third Saturday of May, which is set aside as Armed Forces Day in the United States. We honor those who are currently serving while not forgetting those who served.
Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard, thanks for your service.
I know the Army song and I believe the Coast Guard song are the older versions but I wanted find a medley with all 6 forces in it. If you want to know more about any of the forces you can see a link to each on the Department of Defense website here.

They deserve recognition! Good work, Herb!
🙂
I’ve never heard the space force anthem before… it doesn’t have quite the panache of the earlier songs, in my opinion. Anyhow, happy Armed Forces day!
I agree, but it will take some time, I expect. The Space Force guys around here take it seriously. I’m unclear on their mission, completely.
I still hate the blocks, but I have one website I contribute to that has to be blocks (I copy-paste). Another of mine has a plug in workaround. But, I’m running out of room for fixes.
It’s frustrating but I may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
Good luck with your dive into working with blocks. I briefly tried them, and will now resist them for as long as I possibly can!!!
I don’t blame you but I’m seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel (I hope it’s not a train).
Working with blocks in wordmess.com becomes second nature after awhile.
‘wordmess.com’ – made me laugh, even if it was a typo…
Perfect, Herb!
Thank you!
I had no idea we had a Space Force. I kinda thought that was a joke at first. Now I know!
It’s pretty new, started in 2019. We have a couple of bases around here that have Space Force units.
I caved and started using blocks quite some time ago. It isn’t so bad once you get used to it.
Thanks for the anthems. A related question: do any military bands play John Phillip Sousa marches any more? I have not heard one in ages.
Drat – I keep forgetting to log in before I comment.
Sorry. And I just replied to the anonymous one. But that’s something cut and paste are for.
Good question. I seem to remember some of them… And I think most of the services have YouTube channels for their official bands. I know the U.S. Army Field Band does. https://www.armyfieldband.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@ArmyFieldBand
