Hi Folks,
I will post all my standard apologies and excuses for not writing on a different day. Today I just want to get something off my mind. I have two friends who are very different from each other.
My one friend is a young fellow about my age and we both grew up in the Sixties. He was the only black kid in an all-white school in Texas and I was the only white kid in an all-black school in Milwaukee. We were both in the military but he is a retired combat veteran with a bronze star while all I have is an Honorable Discharge and a Good Conduct Ribbon. I say “all I have…” but I earned it and am proud of having done my 3 years. We are like brothers born from different mothers and we agree on a lot and could just stand around and talk forever.
My other friend is someone I have known since she was a little girl. I watched her grow up, helped her read the Bible through, seen the tragedies and victories of her life until she is now a beautiful young woman who had a sweet spirit as a little girl and never lost it.
A year ago last night my young friend got married to a preacher while at the exact same time my other friend’s son was senselessly murdered in front of his twelve-year-old son.
We all went to the same church and the murder was less than two blocks away from the wedding. I am full of mixed feelings this morning.
And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
(1Co 12:26)
Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
(Rom 12:15)

Beautiful friendship. I am saddened to hear of another senseless murder. My condolences to the family and to you. 🙏
Thank you so much.
“All I have.” I wish more people had all you have.
Thanks.
I’m so sorry, Herb. What a terrible, tragic thing.
Life is really strange sometimes, for sure.
Herb, this is a heart breaking story. So hard to be in the middle of tragedy and happiness. Sending prayers your way for you and your friends.
Thank you so much!
Sending prayers your way, sorry for the horrible news overshadowing the joy.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
How awful about your friend’s son. It is hard when things that cause joy and things that cause sorrow happen at the same time. It’s hard to know how to feel.
It really is. Either way you wind up feeling guilty and you know you shouldn’t but you do.
