Here’s the haps:
Patrick was lucky. Since the day he had found that four-leaf clover, everything good seemed to come his way.
He had met the wonderful Rosie, and after a whirlwind romance, they were married. And now, a year later, he was the proud father of twins, a boy and a girl. At work, the story was the same. He had been promoted and had received a substantial raise, and now the firm had come up with a profit-sharing plan. Pat was sure his good fortune was due to his four-leaf clover. Everywhere he went, he was certain to be carrying it in his suit pocket.
But, one morning, Pat could not find the clover.
He searched the house, but it wasn’t there. In a panic, he tried to remember when he had last seen it. He finally recalled it was in his gray suit that he had dropped off at the dry cleaners. He rushed to the cleaners only to find that the work had been completed and his suit was ready to be picked up. He dug through all the pockets of the suit and found his precious four-leaf clover, still in one piece but now flattened by the smoothing process.
And from that day on, Pat’s fortunes changed. Life was still good but it was no longer perfect. Little inconveniences were always there. He had a flat tire as he was driving to an important meeting. The twins developed measles when his boss and his wife were over for dinner. No, Pat’s life had changed. He still carried the four-leaf clover with him, but he was certainly not living under the silver lining he had been.
One day while he was talking to his beautiful wife, who still loved him, he asked her why she thought his fortunes had changed.
“Well, Pat,” She said with irony, “I would think by now that you’d have realized that you should never press your luck.”

“Press You Luck?” Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious!
😁
Good one Herb!
‘After a world-renowned athlete lost an important match, his wife suggested that in the future he wear a pair of her panties in his shoes for good luck.
He’s been undie-feeted ever since.’
I guess he better toe the line from now on.
I should be more prepared, considering how many times you have patiently set up your puns and surprised me!
Thank you very much!😁
It makes you wonder what would happen if Pat spent a couple hours looking for a new clover. Heck, find a good patch and you could easy gather a hundred, two hundred four leaf clovers in an hour or two. With that many clovers you could afford to press some of your luck since you’d still have plenty to spare.
Well, I guess Pat wasn’t lucky enough to have a smart friend like you.
Fair enough.
Very punny Herb! 🤣😎🙃
Thank you!!
Sometimes I see the punchlines coming on these from a mile away. Not today.
I guess that was lucky for me, then.
