Where Did She Ever Go?

Where Did She Ever Go?

Herb’s Blog, Herbdate 22944 – 1033

Here’s the haps:

A ninety-five-year-old woman in the nursing home received a visit from one of her fellow church members.

“How are you feeling?” the visitor asked.

“Oh,” said the lady, “I’m just worried sick!”

“What are you worried about, dear?” her friend asked. “You look like you’re in good health. They are taking care of you, aren’t they?”

“Yes, they are taking very good care of me.”

“Are you in any pain?” she asked.

“No, I have never had a pain in my life.”

“Well, what are you worried about then?” her friend asked again.

The lady leaned forward in her rocking chair and slowly explained her major worry, “Every close friend I ever had has already died and gone on to heaven. I’m afraid they’re all wondering where I went.”

Her friends have to realize sometimes the Lord’s collection chariot is in the shop for a while quite often but it will make “the rounds” in due time.

Haha, so true. Longevity is not such a blessing anymore when one loses all one’s friends. There was an ancient friendship pledge that says something like we were not born at the same time, but we wish we would die at the same time. It makes sense to a certain degree. One just doesn’t want to lose one’s friend.

That’s neat. I don’t think I have ever heard that before.

My grandfather, who died right before his 101st birthday, told me more than once “Don’t get old.” Maybe this was one of his reasons.

lol. My mom used to say that a lot, too.
