Here’s the haps:
Today would be Grandma Pike’s 92nd birthday. My wife’s mother lived with us for most of our married life. She did not fit the stereotype of a mother-in-law at all and was easy to get along with. She was instantly beloved by anyone who met her. Her nephew has purchased a stone for her grave and we will have what I guess you would call an unveiling of it tomorrow.

Sorry for your loss Herb
Thank you.
I’m sorry for your family’s loss.
Thank you.
She sounds like a real blessing.
She was. Still is, really.
She was beloved.
Yes she was.
I like that red hat!
She wore it well. And proudly.
👍
She looks a lot like Benjamin.
I agree.
I can see that woman was a pistol and will be missed.
She was a pistol but she let us run our household and almost never nagged or interfered.
I loved grandma pike! She was such a joy to be around and always with a smile ! I’m so honored I was able to spend those last moments with grandma pike in the hospital. I will always treasure every moment we had together. I’m so happy to hear a stone was able to be purchased. ❤️
We’re going to look at it at 1 O’Clock today.
Praying for you and your family today and specially on Monday.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Thank you.
You should write more about her personality. ❤ You are sweet to remember her and tell us about her.
Thanks. Writing about her personality is kind of a challenge but I will think it over.
With each elder’s passing; our world becomes a bit dimmer. But they still live in the Tellin’, pass the stories down, make sure the young’unz know.
Thanks for your comment, Mike. That is a good point.
Love to read stories of grandma Pike. You are not only a wonderful father and grandfather; you are also the best son-in-law.
I celebrate both my mom’s birthday and the anniversary of her death. It’s important to remember.
A beautiful treasure
What a wonderful family you have! It sounds like all of you have inspired each of you to be the best you can be.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Herb. And I’m sorry I didn’t see this sooner! Blessings to you and your family! 🙏
A good tribute to a much loved lady! Much love and blessings with Garfield hugs
It sounds like she was a great lady. What a blessing that you made a place for her in your home. I have decided that the atomization of families is something our culture has gotten very wrong.
I am also sorry I did not see this sooner. I have a hole in my system of following posts. You and your mother-in-law are both amazing. I envy how you get along with everyone!
She was a good person. She never said a lot but she took an interest in whatever was going on. She was easy to get along with.
Golden memories
Yes, sir.
