Well, you learn something new everyday, doncha? Yesterday I found out that if you have a Chromebook it has an end-of-life date. John over at https://linesbyliming.com/ left me a comment about it so I had to look it up. It was so inexpensive at the time (I don’t remember the price other than that. They still are, comparatively speaking, fairly cheap.) that I didn’t feel like a whole lot of research was necessary. His comment intrigued me enough though that I did look it up and I found it on How To Geek, one of the sites I recommend for any tech related questions. Their articles are easy to read and understand. Like this one: https://www.howtogeek.com/467095/how-to-see-your-chromebooks-end-of-life-date/
I got more interested because apparently you can install Linux on it. Some years ago I had putzed and dabbled a little with Ubuntu Linux but haven’t really thought much about it since. https://www.howtogeek.com/403164/what-to-do-when-your-chromebook-reaches-the-end-of-its-life/ So, in the long run it may turn out to be a good investment anyway. Besides, I have 2 years left to think about it.

I learn one new thing every day, and imagine six impossible things before breakfast.
I’m guessing you’ve been to the Big Bang Burger Bar?
Lol nice
Yeah. Real nice. Talk about planned obsoletion.
Wow! I bet that’s disappointing!
It is disappointing. I will keep using it as long as it works but I doubt I’ll get another one. They are quite a bit less expensive but talk about planned obsolescence!
Right! I guess they want to force you to spend more money. And I don’t think that’s right.
I agree. And it’s one thing to know something will expire and I think most of us are familiar with the idea of planned obsolescence but for them to come right out and say is annoying and frustrating at best.
It sure is! It’s almost as if they’re rubbing it in your face. How long have you had the Chromebook?
Wow. I’m sorry to say, but I don’t know off hand. A year or two but I’m not exactly sure.
Wow! It definitely had a short life!
