I have a Chromebook laptop that I don’t use very often because I have a nice desktop that gets the job done. I needed to use it to blog on tonight and I remember why I don’t use it very often. I don’t know if the issue is with the computer itself or with the Chrome OS but it is somewhat new-ish so maybe I just expect too much from it. I usually just use it for reading in bed so maybe it needs to work its brain muscles a little. I’m using it because I was going to go to bed early and sit up and read a bit when I remembered you, Gentle Reader. It has become very important to me to keep up with posting daily in the blog. I know that there are some entries that are pretty lame or just a kind of cop-out but the point, maybe just to myself, is that I have done it consistently.
So now it wants to reboot to update. Okay. Goodnight.

Computers ugh!
Annoying to be sure.
With every reboot it gains new powers. Eventually it will develop a soul.

When I think I know something it all changes no matter what kind of computer I use.
If your Chromebook hasn’t exceeded its “End of Life” date, the updates should occur automatically without a reboot. If your chromebook has exceeded its end of life date, there will be no further updates. The updates on a chromebook occur automatically once you restart your computer or they send you a little notice in the lower right hand corner telling you that an update is available. If that happens, all you have to do is restart your computer and the update will be automatically included. Thanks so much, John. I didn’t know there was such a thing as an “End-Of-Life-Date.” I have had it for a while now so I don’t know. I got it real cheap on sale a couple of years ago. It works okay for reading blogs and funnies but not much else. I appreciate the offer.
OK I am freaked out. Your computer has reached its “End Of Life” and must be updated. Is this a metamorphosis thing, Egg To Caterpillar To Butterfly To ? I’ve seen the movies. When computers evolve it’s never good for humans. Here’s hoping you’re Chromebook still finds you useful to its needs after the evolution, and doesn’t create Skynet.
