I finished Tuesday’s post and discovered that I had been nominated for another Awesome Blogger award by Sara Altaf Kahn over at The Life: Myths-Facts-Journal. If you have never visited her blog, you should give it a try. Hoping I don’t sound offensive, English does not appear to be her first language but I can usually understand the story she is telling and get the feeling of it. She is from a culture that is quite different from what I am used to. I can only answer these kinds of questions from what I have learned in my life with God. Sara is a hard-working medical professional who has suffered some very serious things in life.
Do things just tend to happen for a specific reason?
I think there are a lot of times that things happen that are just life. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 9:11 that “…Time and chance happeneth to them all.” Now, how well you are prepared is something else. There are some things in life you just can’t be prepared for but other things you might be able to have prepared for. I also believe that God does have reason, sometimes, for us to go through specific trials or tests to prepare us for something else. If you read the book of Job in the Bible there is no indication that Job was ever told why he suffered as he did.
Why do people make the promise when they don’t keep it?
I think a lot of people make promises that they think they can keep only to find out later that they aren’t capable of it. Then they don’t know what to do. There are a lot of people out there who don’t realize the solemnity of making even the simplest promise.
Should Almighty forgives the sinner while the victim still suffering?
The first sin, committed by Adam, separated man from God. Now the Bible tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Everyone is a sinner and needs forgiveness from God. Forgiveness is defined as, “to give up resentment of or claim to requital.” From my own personal experience, I can say that forgiveness is the most powerful weapon the victim can deploy. As long as you hold onto the past and are bitter, that person has control over your life. Reliving it in your mind over and over and over is not good and when you let it go, and force your mind into a different direction and make a conscious decision that that person is NOT going to control you anymore, you will be able to eventually forgive and be at peace.
Humans cannot “forgive and forget.” It’s not in our ability to forget, but it is in our ability to give up our resentment and claim on the person who harmed us. Having an unforgiving spirit is just as much of a sin against God as any other sin.
Who was born first? Religion or Humankind?
Both were born at the same time. The Bible says that, “In the beginning, God created…” everything, including Humankind. It also says that, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” The word that is translated in that scripture as “Word,” is Logos. Logos means the Plan. The blueprint that He designed and built, with built-in safety checks to redeem mankind when they failed was as much a part of God’s being as any creation we imagine and ultimately make. He not only designed it and made it, He came and lived in it and was part of His own plan to pay for it.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Morning person.
Do you learn from your mistakes?
I hope so. If we don’t we will keep making the same mistake over and over until we do learn.
How will you contribute to society if you are very poor?
Well, I’m close to poor but I think everyone can contribute to society in some way. I teach Sunday School.
How do you keep a balance in your personal or professional life or academic life?
At this point in life that’s not a problem. In the past, I always have had a principle that is built into me. When it comes to work, you have to prioritize. God, Family, Country, Self, Work.
What is your greatest strength? Why do you think that is your greatest strength?
My only strength is in the Holy Ghost indwelling me. I am a weak, wishy-washy person, but He gives me strength when I have hard decisions to make or difficult things to go through.
What is more important for you? Humanity or Pride?
I’m not sure I understand this question. If we have pride in ourselves and our own accomplishments we can’t stand for long. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. I try to put other people’s needs before mine if that’s what Humanity means.
This is the end of Sara’s questions. I think that I will stop here and do Lydia’s questions tomorrow. As always, please feel free to take on any or all of these questions either in the comments here or on your own blog. I’m not making up any other questions than these.
